Remodeling of an early 20th century historic building

.

Remodeling of the common areas of a historic building in Madrid, whose original project is by Fernando Árbos, from the early twentieth century.

A project focused on returning to the building its historical character after numerous comprehensive reforms and specific interventions that have distorted its origin. An elegant and respectful intervention has been carried out, based on noble and neutral materials in accordance with the Historical Heritage Commission.

At the same time that it has been designed with its historical origin in mind, the building has been provided with all the necessary updates in air conditioning, lighting, security and access control to adapt its use to the needs of the building’s tenants. This technical review has focused on achieving a more sustainable building, monitoring and reducing energy consumption as much as possible.

Another objective of the refurbishment has been to enhance the common areas of the building in order to make use of a number of spaces that had been underutilized until now. In this sense, the interior courtyards have been restored, opening them up to the street and giving them a use for the building itself.
