Avatel Telecom is a thriving technology firm that awarded Ubicca, after winning the contest held, the project for its new headquarters in Alcobendas.
The design of the headquarters responds to Avatel’s values, which promote closeness, teamwork, synergies between the different areas of the company, the exchange of ideas, meetings and debate.
After an exhaustive study of the program of needs, the project is structured around a “connectivity band”, which acts as a strip of uses and services, made up mainly of small-scale and highly diverse offices, meeting rooms and collaborative spaces. In addition, the band adapts to the functional requirements of each department and each floor, enriching the space and receding, folding or turning for the benefit of organizational, spatial or energy issues.
The building has six floors, with a dining room and associated common areas. The ground floor houses the company canteen and spaces for continuous training and events. For its part, on the rest of the floors of the building, the connectivity band acts as a delimiting filter, leaving the access, welcome, transition, representative and collaborative areas towards the existing central communications core, and taking the “bags” of operative work spaces, which it activates and complements, to guarantee that they have greater amplitude, natural light and views to the outside.
In addition, the project carried out integrates, in its design and construction process, values such as energy efficiency, the use of sustainable materials and responsible waste management, as well as concern for the optimum quality of the interior environment and for the taking advantage of the conditions of the building, maximizing the benefits of sunlight at an energy and comfort level.
